Chinese Blues (ragtime piano)

by Lekythion

/

about

This is a faithful modern solo piano recording of the song 'Chinese Blues', written by Oscar Gardner (with lyrics by Fred D. Moore) in 1915.

Originally designed to evoke the mysterious culture of the Orient (in an albeit tongue-in-cheek manner), this historic song was highly popular during the 1910s and 1920s, and has seen many adaptations over the last century, most famously including an interpretation by George Gershwin, and the British comedic song 'Chinese Laundry Blues' by George Formby.

The version offered here is the original composition, accurate to the sheet music as first published in 1915. This recording is the piano part only, without vocals.
